By the way-the bakery is in the Westmont area of Haddon Township, not Haddon Heights."It's what they do for him," she said, referring to the Kitchen Cathedral volunteers, employees and clients who greet her father each time he visits. I live within walking distance yet I will get into a car and travel a half hour to other bakeries I like in South Jersey or Philly. Each time I go back, I vow never to subject myself to the dour mood of Mc Millan's again. This rude service has not just happened once or twice-I have experienced it over years. I don't patronize shops that treat people as if they are lucky to be shopping there. I mean really brusque to the point of being rude-don't take an extra second to decide whether or not to splurge on a cheesecake because you will get rolled eyes and a hand on the hip from the woman behind the counter. I have never before been in a bakery where the staff is generally grumpy and brusque. My main objection to McMillan's is the bad service. Their butter cookies are a cut above some other local bakeries' cookies, but are way overpriced. I must say that their cupcakes are good with just the right amount of frosting and a nice dense cake. Donuts are rather tasteless, even though they are huge and full of icing. ![]() The rolls are bland, and most of the cakes and icings are just too sugary. ![]() I grew up near McMillan's Bakery, and have never understood why so many people love their baked goods.
